    Default Demo Problems

I've had two problems with the NiceTalk Demo.

First, the NiceTalk online/offline link does not work. didn't work in IE6 or 7, FF 2 or Opera. NiceTalk uses an onclick and FF firebug say the popup is not defined.

Second, (and problably related) visitors to the page did not show up in the Invite visitor screen. I had several friends visit the webpage but they still did not show up in the visitors screen. Thus, I could invite them to chat.

Do you know what browsers they were using and if they were blocking javascript? That may be one reason why they wouldn't show up.

As for the online/offline link it does work perfectly for me in IE6 and firefox 2.0.0.13. What version of FireFox 2 are you using? It has worked fine in Opera since the beginning, that is the main browser that I use.

Are you sure you don't have something blocking javascript? Perhaps one of those things they now call a firewall? (honestly, they're not firewalls anymore)

I have 6 computers here at my house that are on 24/7. I have IE 7 on one and IE 6 on the others. I have FF 3 on one and FF 2 on 2. I have Opera 9.26 on 1. Javascript is active on all. Just standard stuff.

visitors included 1 using FF3, 1 using IE 7 and two using IE 6. Two were from a house and 2 from business. when I look at tracker, it says JS is active for all. Just normal computers as best I can tell.

I'm not aware of anything blocking stuff. I don't have problems with other stuff.

You should update the copy of Opera, current version 9.52.

No idea why it's not working for you, everything is working here as it should and for other customers as well. Do you see the livehelp on the forum here? It's at the bottom of each page.

Then there must be an issue with your installation. We use the same script on the site here and you can see that it's functioning.

all i did was click the install button and fill in the sql info. didn't get any install errors.

Unlike the INDEXU install which requires the user to manually configure certain files and folders etc, the NiceTalk install is pretty much done without user intervention. Kinda hard to screwup clicking a button.

Everything else works fine with NiceTalk except those two problems.

I installed a licensed version on a demo site and it's working perfectly. I used the zip file to install, and there's no issues here with any browsers.

live site, test site, same thing as they're both on a webserver.

When you added the code did you add both parts of the necessary code?

Once you're logged in as admin, the second button from the end on the right says Generate Code. There you will see two peices of code, one for the header and one for the body.

yep, I had to do that to get the online/offline button. Otherwise, I wouldn't know that the online/offline onclick didn't work.

    maybe i'll try re-installing it.

reinstalled. same two problems. the onclick in the online/offline icon does not work. actually, the onclick does not work on the close window either. Does not pick up the visitor in the invite visitor.

i'll just assume that they do work in the actual version and that there is something wrong with the demo. no biggie.
