Default Arabic Translation

Hi everybody
I would appreciate anybody's help as support could not help

I translate to Arabic, set everything to UTF-8, but no luck.

Arabic is garbled in UTF-8, but if I change incoding to iso-8859-6 then it looks ok, but as my database is utf-8, then all my listings are garbled.

Yes, I am new to POEdit, but I translated WordPress file using same program, and things are ok there, but not in indexu.

Any help would be much appreciated

regards

Hani

Attach your .po file here, I found an issue with the one you submitted but I don't know if it was caused by you or by the help desk. You should zip it before you attach it. Once I see it then I will download it, and delete it from your post and email it to Dody.

The file you sent to the help desk begins like this

"Project-Id-Version: PACKAGE VERSIONn"
"Report-Msgid-Bugs-To: n"
"POT-Creation-Date: 2008-04-23 13:08+0700n"
"PO-Revision-Date: 2008-08-26 13:59+0430n"
"Last-Translator: ice <ice@xxxxxxxxx>n"
"Language-Team: LANGUAGE <LL@li.org>n"
"MIME-Version: 1.0n"
"Content-Type: text/plain; charset=utf-8n"
"Content-Transfer-Encoding: 8bitn"

Each of those lines ends SHOULD end in \n". This is probably what has caused the issues.

Hi
when I open it with notepad, it is saved in utf-8, and it looks ok.
but when I make the .mo file, that one is not text so I dont know what charset it is.

Here is the new indexu 1.1 po file, I restarted translating, so its only 2%. but I dont want to do it all unless I know I am on right path.

regards

Hani...

Are you compiling the file on the same type of operating system as your web server? Another words, if your host / web server is Linux based, are you also compiling the language file on a Linux box??

You must compile the language file on the same operating system as your web server is.

Dody is compiling it for him, but I think we found a bug in the help desk in that it is stripping out the \ character.

And speaking of which, Dody will be back online tomorrow night and I'll get him to compile it for you then.

Hi Hani,

Thank you for emailing me the PO file, I have complied and uploaded the file that you sent me on my site and it looks like it is working.
I do not understand Arabic but by the look of it it seems to be correct, can you check it out and let me know please?

Please note that although it is not Persian it works as Persian but not as Arabic!!!

By the way I am using Windows XP, it may not work on different operating systems.

Cheers
Mitchell

Hi everyone
It works, but it is not UTF-8, it is iso-8859-6, problem is my database is utf-8, and utf-8 is more common than 8859-6.

Question is, why the compiler makes a 8859-6 file while all entered info is for UTF-8?

Thanx for trying, I hope if someone hase a compiler oher than PoEdit to try it or tell me where to find another compiler, I have installed upinto, but need the editor to make the mo file.

regards

Hani

Thanx, but that is the same
I am now suspecting indexu is causing the problem

I did wordpress with same software, and all is fine, while in indexu it shows, but charset some how shows as iso-8859-6.

We're checking to see if it's issues caused by double byte character sets. I'll do my best to keep you updated.
