SMF-indexu plugin

I thought i would give the SMF plugin a go, theres not much to it really.
Simple is beautifull.
Installed SMF in a subfolder to indexu called "forums".
Then pointed the relitive root path in the indexu plugin.

The redirection works correctly just when i login to indexu, with either an indexu or smf user i get

Fatal error: Call to a member function Fields() on a non-object in /home/articlec/public_html/plugin/idx_to_smf/idx2smf.php on line 32

Does this plugin use the SMF user table like the VB one or is it simply redirection? Like what the nature of this plugin.

Also with this plugin (like the VB one) , if you forget to put in the trailing slash it conpletely kills the indexu backend and you have to fix it through myphpadmin. Its not that clear in the plugin to use the trailing / slash.

Also sorry to be a pain but why doesnt the programers ( or someone ) explain how the plugin works and what it does in the plugin backend.
Instead of just the name of the plugin, personally the lack of infomation frustrates me.

Like details on the nature of the plugin and what it attempts to do / solve.
Every link it redirects if so , what table or database it shares if so , how to apply the pluggin and its functions if so.

Documentation on the plugins is a must have, I agree.

However if you have found a bug wth the plugin you need to post it in the Project Tools.

Yes the smf plugin simply allows IndexU to use the user database of smf
