Unhappy Polish national characters in standard templater are wrong

    Hi,

    (sorry for my bad english)

I'm use IndexU Deluxe 1.2 on my site www.maluszek.pl

I have database in UTF-8 and I set UTF-8 in Admin Panel.

Files western_char.php and misc.lib.php I change to polish special characters and mod-rewrite links works good.

Only all standard templates (I'm use portaldex now) not display correctly polish national characters. See my page for details.

    For example:

    Now is: "Strona gl'owna"
    Must be: "Strona głÃ³wna"

I'm try set ISO-8859-2 and effect is same.

    Help me, please.

    Regards, Piotr

change your language file to pl_PL.utf8 and then update the language in Options - Setup and finally update the category paths.

If you created the database (the actual data) in an ISO language and converted it to UTF-8 then you'll have issues that can't be fixed unless you redo all of those characters again.

You should not ever need to change the language settings away from UTF-8 in Deluxe.

I'm read this info: IndexU translation issues resolved | Nicecoder Blog

I'm change folder name to pl_PL.utf8 and I'm update language in Setup/Options and I'm update category in Categories/Update category path.

    Unfortunately still is wrong

    This is my FTP account:

    This is my Setup/Options:

I never noticed where the text was that you were talking about but now I see it.

The text you're talking about is coded into the translated file. Changing the character set won't do anything.

You would need to edit and recompile the language file. It appears that whoever wrote it made an error.

I think in new Kosmos theme they are working good so the problem is somewhere else than in the language file...

    Hi, Andrew

No, standard kosmos theme, working bad too - see my page: www.maluszek.pl - there is kosmos theme now.

I'm understand one: this site: www.blueweb.pl work good od IndexU Deluxe with polish translate. Is one different beetwen this site and my site:

    www.blueweb.pl has:
    <meta http-equiv="content-type" content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-2" />

    my site www.maluszek.pl has:
    <meta http-equiv="content-type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8" />

I'm try to use encoding ISO, and working bad too.

I'm try to translate indexu.po file using poedit, now. When I'm check it, I write here my notice.

    Regards, Piotr

Some people on PIO (forum.optymalizacja.com) are using IU in DELUXE version so ask there in Katalogi subforum. I hope you will get some support there.

Don;t ask me - I am working on IU 5.4.1 which is better for me

IndexU Deluxe must use UTF-8, do not change the language to use an ISO code

Pejto is mine and that little FAQ is for IU 5.4.x only.

Bruce you're wrong - it is possible to run IU Deluxe in ISO look at paniaga.pl , baciarek.pl

Of course it's possible, I didn't say it wasn't possible. But if you want the included languages to work properly then you must use UTF-8.

OK - IndexU Deluxe work good now.

    I must use locale:

pl_PL.UTF-8 (this is good for home.pl hosting)

pl_PL.utf8 and pl_PL.utf-8 not work good.

Thanks for all for help me

that's interesting, in every case until now it has been .utf-8 and not .UTF-8

I think this issue is connected with ISP = HOME.pl

edit: yesterday (22.Feb.2009) I have made a lot of tests with IU Deluxe reinstalling LOCALES and ... IU is working on ISO-8859-2 woth no problems
