    Default Large(ish) database

From what I see most directories seem to have only a few thousand listings.

I am looking at a business directory project where I will be starting with somewhere in the range of 75-100,000 listings with a potential of 200-250,000.

Each record will have around 15 fields. Are there any issues which I need to be aware of?

Just make sure you have the hardware requirements needed to run DB's that are large(ish). I dont see it being possible to do that on Shared Hosting, so if you dont have a dedicated server yet, you'll probably need to get one.

To sum it up though, there isn't any restrictions from within IndexU. The only thing you have to worry about is if your server can handle it

I was given some bad info. My brain didn't kick in till later. The numbers given to me were way off. Reality is likely 1/3 of what I posted.

The server issue was a brain fart but can be dealt with.

Thanks - am trying to figure out doing the Indexu/WP trick you mentioned. I am likely looking at a year minimum to put this idea together.

100k listings are possible yes. Most of the server issues come from massive amounts of categories and the time it takes to cycle through them for updating link counts and updating category paths.

Once it is complete however, enabling caching helps a lot in performance.

It will be enough to run 200,000 listings in a shared hosting. With page caching enabled, it will be lighter for cpu and memory resource.
