IndexU and duplicate content?

Hi

Would it be beneficial to disallow certain subdirectories to be crawled by seach engines in order to avoid duplicate content, such as f.ex the /details/ directory?

The description of a site is already in the category listing, and having the same description of that same site.

Browse = category description + category content + link_detail1 + link_detail2 + ...
Detail = link_detail1 + additional information on link 1 + link_detailA + link_detailB + ...

Both pages do not seem that much identical.

You can also use "truncate:X" on browse to limit duplicate.
You can even create a custom field to be displayed only on browse (or on detail), etc ... if you are really that anxious.

But, if you disallow /details/ directory, your site will just be smaller and worse ranked, that's all.

I am not "that anxious" as such. It was more of a question, as I am not that seo savvy.

What about meta description and meta keywords on the Tag pages?
Isn't it a minus that these pages have empty meta tags?

We cannot forget the SEO ! It´s very important to forgot present-days!
At your tag pages you could put at keyword, title and description tags anything generic and the variable $tag . That would make unique tags and unique content too ...

All of the pages that are considered "duplicate" are already being excluded from the sitemap and are in robots.txt as well.
