Default How to add emailaddress to suggest_category.php form?

    Hello,

I would like the person who requests a new category on the suggest_category.php form, to submit his emailaddress too,
so the Admin can provide feedback about the category request.

Does somebody know how to add a field to the form where the user needs to enter his emailaddress?

    Thanks,
    Wessel

..am I the only one interested in this?

it seems so logical to me to have the user fill out their emailaddress too, so the system or Admin can send a feedback email to the user after approval of the category, so the chances the user will list into this new category are increased.

It really depends on what kind of directory you are running...

For niche sites, I can see adding an e-mail address to the field. For General Directories, people ( users of the directory ) dont care. They want to fill the least amount of stuff out as possible, yet still get their link added

That's good idea Weswa. People can suggest new category but they'll never come back to check if its added. So If We send them confirmation e-mail they can back and submit their site. Perhaps in Indexu 10 You will find something like this,

Well... Not that I'm saying its not a good idea, but my general directories get category submission that are actual links. Either the automated system they use suck or they are too stupid to realize that Suggesting a Category and Adding a Link or two VERY DIFFERENT things! LOL

    Hi FSGDAG,

If a visitor visits your directory, and wants to be listed in a category that is not available in your directory, how does he list in that non-existent category?

In example: if he is in the "Ecology" business, and your directory does not have an "Ecology" category yet, the only thing he can do is suggest Ecology as a new category, right? And that is the point; if he does, and leaves the website, the Admin is unable to inform him if and when this new category is added and chances are very small he will get back to the website and list, iow "Bye bye potential customer".

If your directory only has automated listers, then this might not be important to your directory. But for all other directories that make business out of manual listers too, this is actually a very usefull add-on in my opinion.

I agree! I have had this issue and support some of the people who care to list manually. I can see this being an advantage to my future plans as those people may buy affiliate programs as they may have not learnt to sort shit from fact yet.
Only trying to earn a dollar.

Sorry that sounded a bit one sided. I do have a heart that feels for the people that are close to me. Morals and geting off track but I would like to be able to target specific niches and I guess that is a way of finding out exactly how people would like to be portrayed.

I have been wanting this, too.
It has been a long time since I did any coding on my site but I believe it is an easy "fix". I will work on it when I get some free time, a few weeks from now, and then re-post my results here.
