Default Fetch Meta not working for Users

Before i start here, i have to ask that you reply with simple instructions for a non-techie person. Even though i know programming, i do not know CURL, or sockets or anything like that.

I just tested (finally after 5 years) the 'fetch meta' link that appears on the 'add link' form on my website - 123findawebdesigner.com. you click on it and it starts working (i think) but never does anything. never fetches anything.. i can image this must be a pain for the website visitor trying to add a link..

I use firefox with javascript enabled. And the fetch meta feature DOES work in the admin section..

i use hostgator for hosting this site.

    thank you.

i just had Hostgator open the CURL and PHP sockets.. here is what they said:
I have enabled cURL for your 123findawebdesigner.com domain. We can allow outgoing ports for PHP and cURL. But not for incoming.

    BUT IT STILL DOESN'T WORK...

i also checked out the fetch_meta.php file on my server and it looks like a lot of coding is commented out and ending } are missing?? i can send the file to someone if they want to take a look at it..

I would have to imagine that CURL would have to be able to work in both directions in order to work. I could be wrong about this, but it first needs to go out to the site, then read all the 'meta data', then return it back to the database.

does anyone else here use Hostgator?? from what i've found, there hosting is better than most others, so it's hard to believe they are the problem..

also, the mass 'fetch meta' from the admin works great so that couldn't be the problem, could it??

any chance i could get a copy of the fetch_meta.php file for 1.3.1. i know an average amount about programming and this file that i have just looks like it's bad.. the PHP tags are not even closed right..
