Bad Word Filter Code

Can anyone point me to where the bad word filter code is? I have an idea for a way to eliminate all automated/bot submissions but it would require negating the test and doing an exit right then and there if the string doesn't exist.

Or taking the code and implementing the negative test in addition to the bad word filter (preferred method).

I am getting sick of the 200-300 spam submissions day after day after day - it is to the point where I approve less than 10% on most days.

Do you have Recaptcha or some kind of validation being used when submitting a listing?? I have no idea how your getting 200-300 spam submissions a day with a bot.

2 sites with recaptcha implemented on both and on a typical day (excluding weekends) 100-150 on one and around 75-100 on the other. According to awstats 1 gets 80-90 and the other gets 130-150 uniques per day.

It is now taking me far to many hours to review all these submissions so I have an idea to automatically pitch anything that is not hand entered by doing the inverse of word filtering except instead of adding as spam exit:

As an alternative I can easily dump any submission with gmail, and other such crap and only accept listings where the email domain matches the submitted domain, isn't keyword stuffed spam and the email doesn't bounce.

Something just doesn't seem right?!?!? I've got 7 directories ( all using Deluxe ) and not one of them gets spammed like that.

Long post but proof. For 1 site today there are 154 submissions plus another 30+ flagged by bad word filter. Follows is terms (needs updating) and list of the first 15 submissions.

Determine whether a site is appropriate for submission.

* Do not submit mirror sites. Mirror sites are sites that contain identical content, but have altogether different URLs. In these cases the submission will be rejected and in addition the original listing will be removed.
* Do not submit URLs that contain only the same or similar content as other sites you may have listed in the directory. Sites with overlapping and repetitive content are not helpful to users of the directory. Multiple submissions of the same or related sites may result in the exclusion and/or deletion of those and all affiliated sites.
* We have a policy against the inclusion of sites with illegal content.
* Do not submit sites "under construction." Wait until a site is complete before submitting it.
* We do not accept porn, prescription drug, gambling, payday loan, dating, escort, forex, steroid, gaming, diet pills or what I fondly refer to as the internet version of TV infomercials. In general any site not providing something which I consider worthwhile will not be accepted
* As with all submissions spam and keyword stuffing will not be tolerated so write your titles and descriptions carefully. Titles are limited to 35 characters and descriptions are limited to 200 characters. No refunds for premium/sponsor requests will be made in cases where the submission is declined.
* With very few exceptions only top level submissions are accepted and this holds true for subdomains (NO deep links). Multiple submissions will result in ALL listings for that resource being removed. Violators, spammers and keyword stuffers are subject to being blacklisted and/or IP blocking.
* Directory submissions which in my opinion do not exercise editorial control will be rejected. In general I am referring to spam type titles and descriptions and not content of the sites listed (no adult directories accepted).
* All submitted sites must be English language of offer a translations.
* No all uppercase or lowercase titles and each title word is to be capitalized.

What is considered keyword stuffing? A title or description where ANY keyword occurs more than twice. In nearly all cases one is best but occasionlly a second is ok when it fits with the sentence flow.

I know that is a rather long list. The point I am trying to make is that should I feel in any way that the submitted resource will not have a positive effect it will be rejected. I am the final judge in all cases what is accepted and where it is listed.

This is just MY opinion ( and you know what they say about opinions ) I wouldn't have considered this spam or dumped it for being poorly written. Its short, to the point, and descriptive.

Try to remember that not every submission is coming from a professional SEO or Directory Submission company. Many submissions are coming from every day 'joe shmoes' who do their best with the knowledge and education they have.

I am interested though on what you think would be a better description for this submission. Or maybe what would get it approved.

Try to remember too that if the person submitting the site is using the 'fetch meta tags' on the add page, and their home page title has this type of description in it, thats whats going to get submitted. It would be nice if EVERYONE read the submission guidelines prior to submitting, but I would venture to bet that maybe .000001% of those submitting will read it. So after they use the 'fetch meta tags' they aren't going back to the 'title' field to change it.

First off I have come to the conclusion that time editing free submissions is a total waste. This reads as though they are giving me a ride across the airports. Ok, subjective but in the end what isn't to some extent. How I would write:

The directory rejection had nothing to do with the description. In fact I didn't need to even read it. The directory has very little or no editorial standards. Just look at the latest links and/or do a search on hydraulic - for reference Does your directory pass the Hydraulic Test? - Info Vilesilencer Directory Owners Forum and more recently Indian Flower Spam Ruining Directories - Info Vilesilencer Directory Owners Forum

Looks like I am going to have to start digging to find the piece of code. Good point about the fetch -- I keep forgetting to turn it off - I like using it to pick up the info and then edit it when I an adding from admin.
