nothing officially written unless you want to consider the line or two in the readme file and the one page wiki at http://www.indexuguide.com/UpgradefromINDEXU32 as covering the subject. There have been a few posts but nothing definitive.
dody has stated and I would agree that if you want to upgrade it is basically a "start all over" situation. Clean out the old and install the new. Then maybe add back in any MODs that you really need.
So, now you ask yourself do I really want to do that? And only you can answer that.
This problem that has been around for as long a links directory software has been around. Anytime there is a major upgrade, those with heavily modded sites are faced with that dilemma: keep my MODs and forego the improvements or go for the improvements and either forego the MODs or re-install them.
Once big change that you should be aware of is the change in the URLs that the Search Engines see from v3.2 to v5.x. But I think there is a MOD that allows you to run the old-style v3.2 URLs on v5.x
Now that most of the bugs are out of v5.x (it has been about 6 months since its release), v5.1 has some very nice features. So, unless your have really done a lot of modifications to v3.2, I would certainly consider v5.1
