upgrade from 5.3.0 to 5.41 or delux

hi

is been ages since i last posted here

my site got hacked (i am running 5.3.0) dody fixed it for me
but the hacker deleted some files and i dont have a copy of clean files

so i was going to upgrade to 5.41 or delux

1 what is the main differnce with the 2
2 if i just upgrade to 5.41 do i just overright the old files on my webspace or is it more complcated then that

I guess there's some questons that need to be asked first.

1) What language is the site in?
2) Is you theme mostly stock or is it highly modified?

To answer your questions, the difference between the two are features. Deluxe has many more features than 5.x

Upgrading to 5.41 is pretty simple, unless you theme is modified or you are running a language other than english.

Being english and uses the kosmos template you could go to either 5.41 or deluxe. I would suggest deluxe but the choice is up to you. 5.41 is not a big change and you may be more comfortable with that version so you could upgrade to that for now, and upgrade again later to Deluxe.

The upgrade process is simple.
1) Make a full backup
2) Make another full backup
3) Upload all files to the server
4) run install.php

ON INSTALL.PHP what do you put as "Host
The hostname of database server" my site url ?

Get a copy of the Install Guide, it will tell you what you need.

Host is in the Database Configuration section, so you would enter the database host, typically localhost.

You broke application.php by editing it or removing info from the admin panel that shouldn't be removed.
