Unable to access admin

I am unable to acces admin/index.php a blank page is displayed. All I see is as source code is the following

try turning off your page compression and see what happens then, (you will get an error) it could be the compression making the funny code, or it could be someone hacked your site. what version are you using?

I am using version 5.4 To do that I need to login as admin which I am unable to do. Any other way?

application.php - load it up and change page compression from "1" to "0"

inspireme is right, but if this was an upgrade there may be another reason. Was this an upgrade from a previous version?

Thank you for the assistance. Turned page compression to 0 but did not work. Still the same problem. This was not an upgrade. Thanks anyway.
