Default Sitemap problem: "The requested URL /sitemap.php was not found on this server."

    Hello,

    I am faced with a mysterious problem I hope someone can help me with;

When I go to my site and enter the direct URL to sitemap.php there is the error

"The requested URL /sitemap.php was not found on this server."

But the file is really there!

Does anybody have a clue what can be wrong here?
    Thanks & regards,

Make sure the files sitemap_index.xml.gz and sitemap1.xml.gz to sitemap7.xml.gz have been CHMODed to 666 or 777

    Hi Bruceper,

Thank you for your reply. All the files were and are set to 777
unfortunately I am still having the same problem.

Could it have to do with a parked domain name? My site is on a server with another name, and I added the domain on which indexu is running now.
    Maybe that causes the problem?

I set the cronjob exactly as adviced in the readme. That seems to be OK, and also I can not imagine the cronjob causing a file to become unfindable?

Your help is very much appreciated, thank you!

Yes that's going to be a problem. Because the script is going to try and run with the domain name, and if the domain is not where the script is then it's going to 404.

Once you change the domain it will work fine.

    Hi Bruceper,

Is there maybe a setting I can change in the sitemap.php files?
I mean, my server is hosting more sites, and the server and sites differ in domain names.
My indexu site is on www.greatestbeachresorts.com which in reality is an addon domain on the server with domainname onlinedemo.biz .
So the site is in the subdirectory greatestbeachresorts.onlinedemo.biz

Surely there must be a way to have sitemaps.php working for a add on domain?
Would you know how to tackle this?

    Thanks!

In settings enter the URL that the site is actually on. If you need to enter an IP address or perhaps a domain/path then go that way

    Hi Bruceper,

I tried the domains, subdomains and the IP, and the sitemap.php was not found in any setting. I did wreck the site with these actions; the design is messed up now. Any idea how to solve this? www.greatestbeachresorts.com

    Thanks

    Hi Bruceper,

I solved the design problems, so that is fixed. However, sitemap.php remains not working.

    Thanks anyway!

Perhaps I misunderstood you. When you said your site was parked I assumed you meant at one of those domain parking sites such as SEDO.com and not a domain parked on top of another.

Send me your FTP and admin info to support [at] nicecoder .com and I'll look into it.
