Read sessions

what i would like to do, is to create in cp area some sort of logging system so i can see what members are viewing etc. whilst i have some sort of plan in my head, i am a little confused when i comes to the way indexu handles sessions. i have done some research on google but no joy. if some kind soul could kick start me in the right direction, happy days. cheers

You may not be aware of the answer, but I'll first answer you with a question.

Why do you want to rewrite a book when it's already been written?

If you want to see what your users are doing then use your built in stats software and sort by IP address or setup Google Analytics for the same thing (but better). It would be too much work to try and write this when you can get it for free.

wow not the answer i was expecting but very well presented :-) i could use cPanel webalizer. what i am trying to do is build a picture of what members are looking for and downloading. cheers for that bp

I would have to agree with Bruce on this... The amount of time and effort to try and 're-invent' the wheel wouldn't be worth it...

Webalizer is ok, but you might get even better reporting out of AWSTATS ( if your using cPanel ) or try Urchin ( even better than AWSTATS ).

It might just have been me ( more than likely ) but I didn't have a good experience with Google Analytics. When I would compaire the stats from Analytics to AWSTATS on my server, Analytics was wayyyyyy off. I trust AWSTATS more because its using the logs on the local server rather than information being transmitted from a couple of lines of code at the bottom of a footer

I guess what I'm saying is, local is better than remote
