    Default Page Cache

Are the detailed pages cached? If they are then how does it work?

Im about to add some geo-location stuff to my site which uses stupidly complicated calculations to do "find nearest"

Each listing will have about 9 find nearest calculations eg.
    1) Nearest supermarket is ASDA which is 3miles away
    2) Nearest English Heritage Site is 23 miles away
    3) A Mcdonalds is sutuated 5 miles from..

Just need to check its not going to bring the server to its knees.

I dont know if it is cached, but would be great if you updated us on if you succeed with this feature.

Its a question of your version and if you cache it your geothings won't work in the time a visitor gets cached data.

im using googles new MAP API, its fantastic! if anybody has a region specific directory they HAVE TO look at it

    check this out :
    http://www.bigfreeguide.com/camping/loadmaps.php

not the whole directoory done yet but its looking good.

I will keep you posted on how I get on with distance calculations, I have done something similar with postcode distances before but its very slow. I really need to have the page cached to keep the website going smoothly. From what i can see detail page is cached anyway, but i havent really looked into the way it works properly.

I plan to download POI files (points of intrest) you get with GPS software like tomtom, they are all geocoded with coordinates, and they have a massive amount of data sets available.
