    Default Linking spam?

I don't know if there was any thread about my question had been asked, I checked but not found.
I got some linking spam that someone submitted a web in my directory and then put the link in his webpage that redirected many traffic to my directory which I believe these traffic are totally invalidated just a trick to keep his ranking in top one on my frontpage.
I usually write warning email to ask they remove any tricks like this, however, some people just ignore the warning, and this kind of trick really hurts my credit of directory , also my bandwidth.
Is there anything I can do to prevent such linking spam?

    thank you

if the traffic is coming from the same ip, you could ban that ip using a .htaccess

wouldnt it just be better to remove the site...

send an email saying "sorry dude, dont abuse the system, please resubmit when you learn to grow up"

Then, add it to your guidlines that abusive bahaviour will result in sites being removed.

Thanks for your replies. No, they are from different sites and IPs.
And yes, I always send a warning to ask them remove those spam link to my site, only remove their submitted sites on my side is not enough, garbage traffic still keep coming. However, I want to find a ultimate solution to prevent people doing cheat like this, can we?

it would be a good idea if we could have an ongoing list of all the sites and Ip's that are doing this so everytime someone catches a site like that they would update the list...the list could then be easily added to your .htaccess
