    Default Lib curl question

    Hi
I moved to another host, when installing i saw that they don't have the Lib Curl (i think that's the name) available.
Well the problem is that the fetch meta tags, doesn't work.
Could it be the problem ?
What exactly doesn't work if Lib CURL isn't available ?

    Thank's

No, i removed the curl module in my xampp, and i can fetch the meta tags.
However it would be nice to know what i can expect without the module.

Now what files must i see or compare, to resolve the issue.

I hope somebody can help, I've been two months now preparing my site, thinking tomorrow would go online and now this And i am fad up, i need to catch some air

    Thanks

    Well, it's getting worse...
I made a temporally fresh installations, of indexu5.4 in the host provider, and i still can't fetch the meta tags.
    • I have another directory using freeglobes in the some host, and fetches the meta tags.
    • In my localhost, using xampp with PHP Version 5.2.2, I removed the module CURL in my localhost and fetches meta tags.
    • The host uses PHP version 4.4.7, so i think it's ok

They don't allow a execution of phpinfo, so i can't provide much more information. I don't know if it was on this forum, but isn't there a script that allows to see, if the host matches all the requirements ???

So with this little information that I can get, i need help from the support team, to know what are they blocking , or what Indexu needs to fetch the meta tags, or why is not working.
I need to know something ,to talk to them, I can still get my money back.

    Thank's

Thank's for your reply, I test and the result is this:

    PHP 5.1.0 ... failed (4.4.7)

    PHP module MySQL ... ok

    PHP module GD ... ok

PHP module ZLib (optional) ... ok

PHP module Curl (optional) ... failed

PHP module socket connection (optional) ... ok

PHP module XML (optional) ... ok

PHP configuration asp_tags ... ok (off)

PHP configuration safe_mode ... failed (on)

Apache mod-rewrite module (optional) ... failed
But i'm using 5.4, so i really don't know if all of this is necessary.
further more, i now have a additional problem, i can't approve links in the admin area.
In the block of directory stats , appears 3 pending links (correct), in the admin none. I just receive a mail saying that i must approve in /cp/editor_link_validate.php

I don't understand what happened, could all this be just for the host configuration ???

Well , the last part , that i couldn't validate links in the admin area is fix.
I saw the prescription of a post saying :

    alter table `idx_link_temp` change `spam` `spam` char(1) NOT NULL default '0';
I've also restore a sql backup, moving from host, and it looks like the backup isn't enough.

The rest still goes on , can't fetch the meta tags.

    You have multiple problems here...

1 - mod-rewrite isn't supported ( according to this ). Which basically means you wont be able to have SEO friendly URLs.

    2 - Safe_Mode is turned on.

    3 - No curl

It would seem to me that your host really isn't setup for IndexU. If you would like to look at a different host, see my link in my signature. PM me if you have questions or want additional details

that's what i call grab the opportunity.

But i also have a arcade / flash games site, do you allow that in your host ? My sites will be mainly for Portugal, is it fast ? me must think
In fact it was for the games site that i had to move to another host, because of disk space, i need a lest 4 to 5 gb .

Strangely , the mod rewrite is off, but it works, in the cats. The integration of google search mod of indexudirectory, doesn't.
Perhaps there is a solution, i have to wait until Monday, to speak with them. If there's no solution, i have to move and c-4 looks like a good solution.
    Will see...

Would love to have your business, but I'd rather not have the arcade / flash game site If your interested in just the IndexU hosting, or hosting for any other kind of site ( except for arcade / flash ), let me know
