Default Integration with VB 3.7.0 ??

I am interested in finding a way to integrate the brand new VBulletin, version 3.7.0 to IU 5.4.0

Is there anyone that has attempted this with the 3.7.0 VB beta versions yet??

A lot to ask for I know....

It can not be done without a huge amount of changes. IndexU stores it's passwords in plain text in the database. vbulletin stores their passwords using MD5+salt.

This means one of two things.
    a) In order for IndexU to read the vb database you would need to figure out the MD5+ salt and then change IndexU so it can understand that type of login
    b) In order for vbulletin to read the vb database you would need to do a whole lot of abuse to vbulletin to change it to read plain text passwords

Either way, what you're looking at is nearly impossible.

The one way you can do it is with a third party login system such as amember. It's not cheap, but it provides a solution that means no programming on your end.

As a note, the IndexU plugin from amember was recently updated for IndexU 5.40 after working with them for a while. I had planned on a tutorial on how to integrate amember into indexu but have not done it yet.

I get you. So then Amember would just integrate the logins then, is that right?

I am a bit familiar with them and I've heard it is a great set up but since you pretty familiar with it, tell me this: Does Amember cross logins so that you can join on either side, or do you disable the registration in either the VB, or the 5.4.0 ,and then funnel them all to one place to register?

    And what's.... Not Cheap??

    Thanks!

That's correct, it only deals with the logins.

A member doesn't "cross" logins exactly. You replace the registration part of the script with the amember registration area and then amember submits the user/pass to the respective scripts.

When a user comes to the site and logs in, they are actually logging into amember which will allow the user to view any site that is integrated. There are many options which include permissions, payments and a whole lot more.

    Not cheap is $180

Excellent concept. I might have to test that one out.

    Thanks!
