Post Integration with latest vBulletin 3.6.8

The description of this forum is:
"Wanna have INDEXU integrated with vBulletin? It's not so hard as you have thought before. And start making a lot of traffic."

    but
I don't see even in the old threads here of how to do it.
I'm running a vBulletin 3.6.8 integrated with PhotoPost at
vitisearch.com/forums/ and have indexU running in the root directory.
It would be great to integrate the login between the two....

Would just like to know if anyone has been able to do this. I'd consider paying someone to do it for me, also.

    Best regards,
    Michel White

Seriously, photopost blows chunks compared to photoplog. Photoplog does true integration into the VB control panel unlike the mess that photopost creates. I've used a number of gallery scripts and photoplog is the nicest of them all.

BUT as for your question, there is no current integration with VB. The old thread was for IndexU 3.1 and VB 2.3. If you can't see the old threads then you really need to learn VB a lot more.

Go to http://www.nicecoder.com/community/script-integration/ and go to Display Options at the bottom of the page, in the drop down box that says "From The" choose Beginning and click Show Threads. You will now see all the available threads in that forum.

I didn't mean that I couldn't read the old posts, but it's definitely true that I need to learn more about vB, especially since I'm using it at my site. Problem is that I have never frequented forums much because my 70 or so grape growing groups are all at yahoo and have been there since the eGroup days back in 1999 and 2000. It's all new to me...and I grapely thank you, expecially, for the patience and help. I've learned a lot here this past two days.

Also very grapeful for pointing me in the direction of photoblog! I will look at that tomorrow. Also another thanks for the other two replies on the other threads you just posted. Are you for hire?(grin)

/me shudders at the thought of yahoo groups

Although grapes do interest me, I've got some nice ones (no idea what kind) growing from a huge vine on my property. I can send you pictures some time if you're interested. I've also got crabapples and plums (oh so yummy).

You can find photoplog at PhotoPlog - PHP MySQL Gallery Script for vBulletin and if you have any VB related quiestions that are quick and easy, feel free to message me. I run (what I consider) a medium sized forum with just under 2000 members. If you want to check it out the URL is PocketBikeForum.com - The Place To Talk Pocket Bikes

By the way, I also use photopost classifieds and it's a nightmare. The worst integration I've seen yet and very minimal controls, I'm moving over to vBClassified very soon.

And yes, I am for hire seriously I do take on work but must devote time to current clients before I can move onto something else. Of course most jobs typically don't take up my time full time, so I can do multiple jobs at once usually.

As for the integration thing. I have strongly suggest that development on new features stop and complete integration of at least the user database is done on IndexU. Further integration can be done over time but that's the first major hurdle. No news has been given on this front however but I'm still hopeful.

I'm really glad to have met you here! I just checked out your site and BOY! I'm like a kid in a candy store thinking "I wish I could do THAT and wish I could do THAT...etc...".

The only thing I didn't like is that if I go from the forum to the Links directory, there is no way back...so navigation is a bit confusing to me.

I'm using my old eClassifieds Photo Edition for now. I was thinking of purchasing the PhotoPost Classifieds but will hold off on that. I just spent about 450$ to get indexu, vBulletin and photopost with photopost installation. Right now my problem with photopost is that I installed it but couldn't get anything from Photopost to appear on the forums page but now I have one featured photo there and cant figure out how to get it off and add 4 or 5 of my own featured photos there. Maybe you could have a look and see what I mean at Vitisearch Grape Growing and Winemaking Forums and Photo Gallery.

Only other thing is that the vBulletin top logo points to the forums homepage and I want it to point to just vitisearch.com and hopefully completely remove it and put my own header up there. Yours looks really nice to me, although I'm obviously a grape growing site and not about bikes...although I had a nice Yamaha Virago 1100 while I lived in Germany and have ridden my whole life.

The reason I'm doing all this myself is that I have 3 guys that were going to help me a few months ago and none of them have done anything and I don't want to wait any longer....Enough blogging for now.
    Best regards,
    M

VB is quite easy to modify once you understand the structure.

Yes you do get taken away from the forum if you click on the links link, that's because there is no integration

VB offers a lot of support on vb.com and vb.org, but if you feel the need for outside help then I am available.

What I love about VB is that it uses phrases and during an upgrade those phrases do not get overwritten, unlike IndexU which everything gets overwritten.

    Yup,
There's a lot to modify to get everything personalized in vB. It'll take awhile. I just hope I don't mess anything up to a point that I can't recover it...(grin).

I'm learning a lot here and may even take a class in php and stylesheets because that's really what I need to learn the most. Just noticed you are from Winnipeg. I spent 13 years in N.B. and two in Ontario. It was quite a party!

Don't know what you're all up in arms about. Photoplog is OK and is definitely not a substitute for Photopost although I will admit that the UI at times is very irritating. I think VBGallery is actually the best of them all. Just because the software has a separate control panel that makes it not dependent on vbulletin is not a bad thing. VB Classifieds isn't that horrible either.

What I do see are lots of comments about how it is so easy to integrate with vbulletin in theory but none in fact. All I'm looking at doing is sharing a user database and that is something I need to investigate (including cookie sessions and autologin.)
