Installation errors

Hi,
I've tried installing 3.2 and 3.1 (upgrades both) and cannot get past the installation screen. On my last try ( and UGH! many hours trying to do this) I get the following error:


Fatal error: Call to a member function on a non-object in /home/pueblosites/www/pueblolinks.com/dir/lib/misc.lib.php on line 59

Session Update: Table 'pueblolinks.idx_sessions' doesn't exist


Surely after I've been unable to configure the database with the indexu form, and after changing the application.php to ad-nausea, you'd think this darn install would install.

I think after paying for the 3.2 upgrade, 3.1 install and all prior installation files - installation should be FREE.

I went to the nicecoder web page for indexu v3.2 and added it to my cart (thinking maybe files had changed since April 2005) and decided to make yet another purchase of the script - because when it works it rocks and I don't have time to find another links program for my site. Lo and behold once adding it to my cart a line item showed I had to purchase installation, even though on the order page it said it was free and in numerous instances throughout the forum support says it's free.

Well after working on trying to get any of the later versions of this script to work I've come to the conclusion that on this LABOR DAY (US holiday) I worked 8 hours @ 35.00/hour (a very conservative fee) and have decided that if Nicecoder (an oxymoron if you ask me) spent time fixing the installer it would save all of us some REAL TIME!

As good as INDEXU is, it suffers from a couple of major design flaws. One of which is the almost utter lack of error checking. It just assumes that things will ALWAYS work and when they don't, it bombs.

I've had that error before but don't recall how I fixed it. Line 59 deals with the theme and I remember commenting out the GetTheme line at line 187 of the index.php file.

but you also have the following line which is confusing:

Session Update: Table 'pueblolinks.idx_sessions' doesn't exist

The install should definately have created that table. Did you get any error messages during the install???

You could try creating it yourself.
