    Question Hits is not caculating when you click on site's link

    i have just noticed that when you click on a link in your directory, and then once you go back just to check, or to even check in another browser, the clicks are not adding up.

    for example, if you search for the keywords "music", and the first link that comes up is musicsite.com, the count may say 3483.

    so when you click on the link, which takes you to the site......and when you go back just to see if the count changed from 3483 to 3484, it doesn't behave as its supposed to in calculating the link count.

    so in essence, as of right now, if a link hit count says 3483 and if a thousand people click on the link, the hits will always and forever say 3483.

    so i guess my question is this,

    how can this be fixed so that when you click on the actual link, and when you click on the actual details page the hits are calculated and add up?

    thanks in advance.

    well....i tried putting this:

    <!-- link tracking start -->
    <script language="javascript" type="text/javascript" src="<%$tpl_base%>/trackclick.js"></script>
    <!-- link tracking end -->

    in the drako theme, as that's the one that i'm using and it's seems to be working fine thus far.

    so i think that that's the fix for it thus far, but how do you stop someone from clicking the link like hundreds of times to manipulate their link count? i see that this can become an abusing situation.

    I got the same thing happening to me i add it counts in details of link (deluxe Kosmos) and it worked for a while now its not counting anymore. As four people clicking the link to get there counts up it only works 1 time with 1 ip per listings how long after it refreshes, i have no clue.

    Good job bro! This is exactly what you want in the footer.html file of your theme.

    GTALGOODIES is correct regarding the IP tracking.

    The easy answer is that you don't. Just like on Google and other systems where users can advertise something, click fraud will exist so users can either try to better themselves or make a competitor worse off.

    lol thats a true thought bruce...your right when you think about it.

    i guess maybe their could be something that uses a user ip address to simply track it that way if you really wanted to...but then again......like you said....

    i like your train of thought on that one.
