Hit Counter problem.

it works but not when someone click on the blue link ( link with numbers)

it counts if they go by detail

how can i repair this?

Probably because they open in a new window. Did you try disabling that and seeing if that was the issue?

I just tested this on Deluxe, and opening in a new window does track the hits.

But I noticed something, you need to use $tpl_base and not the full path in the trackclick script. If you're using the full path then it won't track hits for some reasons.

For 5.x I don't know if there is a workaround other than removing the target="_new".

i just changed it back.

Where can i find the target="_new" to remove?

should be in rows.html

Try removing it, and see if the hit counter works or not. Then place it back and test it again.

From what I can see, it shouldn't matter if it opens in a new window or not.

i added the open new window again.

the only target i see in rows is this one: <a href="<%$url%>" target="_blank

that would be it. target=_new, target=_top, target=_blank, target=_self are all valid.

Your difficulties lately seem to resolve around HTML issues. I'm not trying to say anything bad but perhaps you should look for a free online course about HTML so you can improve your skills. This would make like much easier for you if you want to modify Indexu.

it's ok bruce i am trying and learning and will take all hints and tips

i tried all you suggested but whatever i do the clicks wont count.

so i changed it back to the normal settings, other suggestions?

do the clicks count even when back to normal? If the answer is no then you're missing the trackclick script in the footer

ok, now try adding target="_new" in detail_link.html. Then clear the template cache, click on a link and see if it counts up.

done it counts up on normal setting.
but not on open new window.
