    Default Error Message

    Hi Everyone.
I am very new to this script, had Spam problems with PhpLinkdirectory, so decided to give this script a try..
I have just purchased the latest Version, 10 minutes ago, went through the istall procedure, everything went smooth untill the actual
"Create or Upgrade Database Tables" when I click "next" I get the same error message as previously mentioned

Warning: Unexpected character in input: '\' (ASCII=92) state=1 in /*******/local/home/********/*******/directory/lib/link.class.php on line 1209

Parse error: parse error, unexpected T_STRING in /*****/local/home/*****/*******/directory/lib/link.class.php on line 1209

I hope someone can advise me.
    Thank you all in advance.

Please do not reply to other threads with similar or different issues. Create your own thread so your issue can be dealt with and resolved

add the following to your .htaccess
    php_flag asp_tags off

If you are not able to run that in .htaccess then ask your host to do it for you. If you receive a 500 error after adding that to your .htaccess then you are not allowed to do this. Ask your host to do it for you.

If you are on a windows server then you cannot use .htaccess and MUST ask the host to do this for you.

If in the end your host will not do this for you, then find a new host. This is not an issue with IndexU, rather it is an issue of the HOST.

I'm very sorry for adding my problem to this thread, on other forums, if you add a new thread, you usually get told off for not reading other threads with the same problem..

Anyway THANK you very much for your help and advice, I did manage to install the script.. I do however have another Error Message, but I will try and find a solution before posting a NEW Thread.

    Thanks again for your help.

Glad it worked for you. No one is going to tell you off here unless you call them at home at midnight (you'll have to search for that one to get it).
