    Default Chmod 777

In the "Install Instructions" it states

" CHMOD 777 the following files and folder

    - .htaccess
    - application.php "

It does not mention changing this after Installation, surely these two should be changed to 644? or will this have an effect on the site?.. I have checked the frontend of the site, and that seems to work fine, but I have not made any changes in the "Admin" so do not know if that will be OK

    Can someone please confirm that
    - .htaccess
    - application.php

    Can be changed to 644?

    Thanks in advance

You can change them if you want, but on most hosts it's not necessary if they know what they're doing security wise.

Yes you can change it back to 644 if you would like. It will not affect anything other than the ability to write to those files.
