"Browse by tag" possible w/o showing keywords in detail pages?

I wish to remove the keywords from the detail pages. Will the keywords then still be indexed to show up as "Browse by Tag" pages?

keywords also appear in the browse (category) pages as well.

If keywords are removed then users wouldn't see them and neither would search engines. However, the tag pages do appear in the sitemap, so yes they would be indexed by any search engine you submitted your sitemap to.

Additionally the tag pages would still exist. So search engines would still be able to see them. But if you had pages that were submitted to a search engine but were not linked to on the website you could very well be penalized for keyword stuffing and hidden links.

Bruce has told you the detail. My idea is to use robot.txt, but not sure how to handle it. The worse case you will need to change sitemap generator (remove the tags pages being generated), and remove keyword field from templates.
