Blank page durng an upgrade

I have studied a lot around the forum and I think that I need completely fresh install - is that true ?

I wanted to make a upgrade from 5.2.x to 5.4.x so I made the following:

- uploaded all files excpet application.php and theme

- next wanted to make install (upgrade from 5.2.0) and get a blank page

Tried to make REINSTALL - no luck

So, the solution for me is to make a new install ? And import all my categories and links separately ?


edit: there were no any kind of problem durign an upgrade from 5.3.0 to 5.4.x

During a 5.x upgrade if you get a blank page it's because you did not upgrade the /themes/ directory.

To keep your theme you MUST at least update english.php and settings.php in /themes/yourthemedir/

OK. I will try it. But not on the "live" directory.

edit: probably you're right - I can see different variables definied.

Not "probably", I've done it many times and that's what is required.

After an upgrade from 5.2 and 5.3 to 5.4 I don;t have HOT and TOP RATED links.

Any fix for that ?

It's possible that there are just fields missing or maybe even set incorrectly in the database.

If you want me to look just let me know.
