I'm currently using v. 3.2 - i've set one of my links to "bid value 10", and another one to "bid value 1" - however, it doesn't look like the link with value 10 shows up first...any reason why this isn't working?

yep, go to browse.php and uncomment the following line :
//$links_obj->query .= " order by bid desc";
search for bid to find the line number... its around 150 on mine.
