    Default Alexa Site info Links

I was wondering if anyone is using Alexa Site Info Links (in association with Amazon.com). Here is the link http://pages.alexa.com/prod_serv/site_details.html

I thinking about adding this link to my details page. Although I'm not sure about the cost benefits of
    Negative :
    1. sending people away from my site
    Positive:
    1. providing them with more information about a site
    2. potentially picking up some associate revenue

Anyway thought a discussion may be interesting.

    Hello,

I personnaly dislike Alexa. Their toolbare application is full of spyware and their popularity stats rely on the viewing habit of surfer using their toolbare. What is the point of being associate with them, very little money and lost of control.

Thanks alladin. I've been doing more research since I posted my message. Everything you posted seems to be the consensus. I haven't got a very clear picture from Alexa how the toolbar/stats work. It seems like Amazon through A9 and Alexa may be taking a stab at rivaling google. Just like the google page rank, I don't have a sense how much a user really would value seeing the states of a site.

I do have to say that I like the "people who viewed this site" concept the Amazon has brougt to Alexa.

    Hello,

I think there are only two things really useful if your site has the right way.
First is to show the Google Pagerank (without manuell update !) and offer a Pagerank picture with backlink which the websiteowner can integrate in his own site and second to show the alexa rank also with possiblility with backlink which he can show o his site.

For me alexa isn't so important, because in Germany it isn't very popular yet, but a way to show live (cached) Google PR and offer a way to give websiteowners a code for their site will be great.

If someone is also interested in this we can start a project on freelancer forums together.

from other post from Frank "Hello lex, can you tell me where I can find information to offer the toolbar from alexa so I get also commissions if someone use it and buys on amazon later ?":

Here is the link - http://pages.alexa.com/prod_serv/associatetoolbar.html

"Oh and one more, if you work with alexa, is there no way to get the thumb from alexa ?"
That is actually what got me looking at Alexa. It would be possible and probably the easiest way to get a thumbnail. Here is an example.
    HTML Code:
    <img src="http://thumbnails.alexa.com/image_server.cgi?size=large&url=slpwebsites.com/" width="32" height="32" alt="">

Just implemented this at our directory and BOY! does it rock

    Thanks for the info lexpression.

The best part is, there is no overhead on the server and if there are no thumbnails for a site, you can always visit Alexa dn have them update the thumbnail (usually done within 48 hours).

Cool new feature for sponsored links

How do you handle the alexa default image and how subdomains or websites which add a folder to their domain ?

And how can I force an image update on alexa ?

To force an image upload, visit the alexa page for the site. Scroll down to where it says "Correct errors and omissions in this listing." *click*

On the next page click "Update Thumbnail for the site".

    Done
