    Thumbs down 404 Issue

I can't add the google sitemap as the 404 returns a 200 code

I presume this is something to do with the internals of the mod_rewrite in the .htaccess, but it's not particularly obvious from the .htaccess contents

    Google sitemaps gives me:
"We've detected that your 404 (file not found) error page returns a status of 200 in the header."

    According to readme.txt
    ------------------------------
    VII. Setting up Google Sitemap
    ------------------------------

In order to get google sitemap to work, please follow the following steps:

    1. CHMOD 777 the following files:
    /sitemap_index.xml.gz
    /sitemap1.xml.gz
    /sitemap2.xml.gz
    /sitemap3.xml.gz
    /sitemap4.xml.gz
    /sitemap5.xml.gz
    /sitemap6.xml.gz
    /sitemap7.xml.gz

    2. Set daily cron job to update the sitemap
    0 0 * * * GET http://www.domain.com/sitemap.php > /dev/null

    3. Submit the sitemap url http://www.domain.com/sitemap_index.xml.gz
    to google sitemap website
So before you submit to sitemap, make sure indexu has generated the sitemap for you. You need to wait until the cron work for next day, or run http://www.domain.com/sitemap.php manually.

The sitemap itself is fine, but google now checks if you own the site or not and offers you stats on spidering etc.,
At present I can't access that due to the 200 status code being returned

I've opened a ticket and supplied FTP login details so that you may view the files.

I presume that this change is related:
    http://nicecoder.com/svn/index.php?act=changeset&id=301

I tried that already, but it just gave loads of errors
