Problem with snaps is that the update of website thumbs of average ranked sites not often is, and local sites are not thumbed at all..

Great if someone can integrate this.

integrate what exactly? In order for someone to generate thumbnails they would need root access to their server to install firefox. That's not something that could be integrated.

I understand, but if the tool could be delivered as an addon (like the dmoz extractor). A auto website preview creator would be a wonderfull thing. It will make the directory more dynamic and a great tool to attract advertisers...

The dmoz extractor is not an addon, it's a windows application and you can use the output from the extractor in your IndexU.

I agree that an automatic thumbnail creator would be good. But for most users it just is not worthwhile since they do not have root access to install software. If we did add something like this there would be a ton of complaints from users because they would not be able to use it.

you could set up a service for indexu owners, if the license is current then the "nicecoder server" generates thumbnail and image to the user. Another reason for people to pay yearly renewals to the license.
