Default Search the Search Bar Help

Hi, as a brand new newcomer to the weird and wondeful world of HTML, I was hoping someone could point me in the direction of moving the search bar on the front (index) page. I want to place it more central, and reduce the image to fit the central banner. If I sound stupid, it is not true.I am just on a crash course of learning this program. If you think I am stupid, that is ok, but can you still please tell me what to do???? Thanx!! Again

Unless you're posting in one of the version specific forums you need to state the version as things are different between the two. So which version is this for?

Also I'm confused what you mean by "reduce the image to fit the central banner". You want to put the search function where the banner is?

All that is required for the search is the box where you type in what to search for. You can technically get away without a "search" button but it usually confuses users. So the text box and a button are all that's needed.

Clarify what you meant and your version and we can go from there.

Hey

I am using the new version, v6. Is there a manual available to read about modding this, or not? I find it difficult to explain exactly what I want to do as I can't communicate well when it comes to technical terms. I want to find out what to change within the templates/themes older to move an item like the serach bar more to the centre of thepage. The same would be said for moving a block, lets say the main block, to a different location on the page i.e. more to the right. If I could find some sort of breakdown in a manual I would stop hassling you and first read that to get me a bit more ''educated''

Thanks anayway

Nope, no manual yet. People won't give me a break to write one

The search feature is located in header.html. I'm not looking but I assume it has no alignment. You could alwants add center tags around it.

When you say the "main" block I will assume you mean the categories listing. That can be found in index.html and again, it could be centered by adding center tags around it. Or if you want it to the right perhaps a div align=right would be better.

Blocks (the ones on the side) can be seen on index.html and can be removed by commenting them (<!-- -->) or deleting them. They can also be switched around by putting them in a different order.

Manual or no manual, it's still just your plain old garden variety HTML (complicated by SMARTY). You don't need bruce's manual to learn that.

esm, I think it's locations of where to find what to edit, and i"m working on something for that now.

As for templates, it has been said multiple times that they are not yet ready for Deluxe. They will be available soon.

As a note, the templates are now available and so is a rough and small guide to show users where to edit what on IndexU Deluxe at http://www.indexusupport.com/free/EditGuide.php

Well, I am hardly the poster boy for HTML. I'm still using tables while everyone has jumped on the DIV bandwagon. Study HTML for a month or two and you will know more than me.
