NEW BLOCK IDEA to Earn Big $$$

Okay here's my idea for a top 10 block bid for placement block.

This is similiar to the existing top 10 block, but instead of top 10 based on popularity or votes... this is a top 10 based on a payment bid for rank.

This would consist of 2 blocks... the primary block would list the top 10 sites on the home page, as well as a link to them, a description, and of course a link to details, reviews, how much they bid to be ranked, etc...

The smaller block would list the top 10 sites in a typical "block" which would only list the name of the site with a link. But the best part is that this block could be a part of every page of the site, thus building giving the top 10 thousands of unique non-reciprocial links.

The best part is that people always want to be the top. I saw a site recently using a system like this and the top bid was $1000... for a link!

Obviously the amount of traffic the directory has, as well as pagerank, incoming links, etc.. all would have to do with the bids... but still a valuable tool.

We would also need to find a way to show pages for the top 11 to 100, top 101 to 500, etc... so that people who bid some amount in the past, and chose not to up their bid, would be able to get some link value later on.

This could be really complicated or really simple.

The complicated version would have a built in notification system telling you that you've been outbid (sort of like ebay) and giving you the opportunity to add to your existing contribution so that you have a new bid. Unlike an ebay bid.. it's not just a promise to pay, but a bid is what they have paid, plus what they may have paid in the past.

To make it more complicated, the bids could be a one time fee, or an automatic recurring charge either daily, weekly, monthly or annually.

Believe it or not, there are some sites out there where people would pay to be #1 for a day.

Anyway... I would LOVE to see this and other potential revenue opportunities added to INDEXU.

Also a PPC Block where you can set up an "ad spot" on the site and people can upload a banner and pay automatically for 100/500/1000 clicks, for a set price and then every visit counts down the clicks they have left.

While im on improvements, lets link the members login with site login - it confuses all web masters on my site, they use the ID and pass they get sent on the login box on the main page... couldn't we have a little bit of code that looked ot see if it was a number that was typed as a username and then try logging in as a webmaster if it was ?

I don't like pay per click so much because of the potential for fraud, or at least the accusations.

With the flat rate option or the monthly residual... it's a done deal.

Plus most people don't think about this, but most credit card companies hate anything where a deal isn't completed upon payment. If you're telling your credit card company that people are making a deposit into your account and that they can come back at ANY time later, then you are a higher risk to the credit card company than someone who sells a service and delivers immediately. The credit card company is liable up to six months after "delivery" and if that delivery is going 10 cents at a time, over months and months it can cause some major problems.

I for one would rather sell a service, get the money, and hopefully overdeliver on expectations so that they tell their friends, sign up again, etc...
