    Default Mod : "GeoLocator"

A few people have been adding longitude and latitude values to their listings and using google maps. I had this on my site here Campsites Radius Search

I made the mod available to another user on the forums, it was a bit of work "cleaning up" the code to work for other people, and most problems have now been solved thanks to some help by alfo

Anyway, if you want the mod im selling it for $150 - its largely independant from indexU so i think should be fine with most upgrades to indexU - (although no doubt a few small issues maybe apparent, i use it on my site so will send a fix if their is something)

This is largely specialised, but if you do want to have a look send me an email. Please no tourism related sites in the UK as this is the market im developing my directories.

    Hello Inspireme,

I might be interested, but would it work without the postalcode,
    but with country and place/city?

I have an international site; www.greatestbeachresorts.com and a mapping functionality would be great, but it would require something else than postal code probably? Or is country -> postal code an option too?

    Thanks & regards,

    Wessel

well, most addresses can use the geocode function on google maps - but to do map searches / find nearest etc you need to have lat/lon values stored as custom fields - however you get those ... thats the tricky bit if you just want a map, search the forums someone put up some simple code that will get the map to display.

I was looking to do the typical radius searches which doesn't seem straightforward with this mod. I've got the code to do this with other software and is fairly common, especially with US data. For example, I have a database of all hardware stores in the US and I simply want to search indexu to find all within a 25 mile radius of zip code 10000. That's what I have been hoping would finally be here but still don't see it unfortunately.

Zipcode search is different, and a lot easier, but you cant do the same things with it. Do you have a zipcode database? Im going to write articles on doing these searches on my site http://www.indexu.co.uk but its going to be a few months before i get to such advanced topics.

To do this properly you need Lat/Lon variables on each listing, its not to ohard to do either especially in the USA. PM if you want some help.
