Full view and compact view

Hi all,

I am currently implementing IndexU and customizing it to my needs. This forum has been very usefull for me so far, and now it's time for my first posting

I saw a great feature on Directory of niche and regional/local directories only - IndexU Directory. It has a option to display the listings in full view or in compact view. How can I implement this function in my directory?
