Bidding directory mod

This mod will make indexu to become a bidding directory. As a bidding directory, the webmaster can bid for link position.

• Webmaster can enter the bidding price when submit new link
• Webmaster can renew his bid for higher position
• Sponsored and premium listing should be disabled
• All new submission will no need approval, once the payment completed, it will be online

Webmaster can bid when adding new link and update his bid for higher position



I change top 10 listing and make it as top 10 bidders. You can make it sidewide links so it will encourage webmaster to become a top bidder.



In detail page, there's a link to bid higher.



I also update the rows.html to show the bid price.

I really like this idea, once your site is established, I see this as a great way for income. I am curious about one thing before I play around with this mod. Will the directory still function as before if they want to just list their site for free? In other words, is the Pay for Listing concept an option, or is it mandatory?

As we all know, if webmasters get their link on a websites main page, that is significantly better than 10 layers deep, and this is something that people will pay for. I would like to keep my directory running just as it always has, but with this paid listing mod for the few that would want a top page link.

It will turn the directory to be complete paid listing. There's no more free listing, and to make it easier I disable Premium and Sponsored listing. The only rule is the one that pay higher will have higher position.

As I understand, your question is about deep linking. You may use custom fields to do this. Just an idea, add the following custom fields as many as you need.

- deeplink_text1
- deeplink_url1
- deeplink_text2
- deeplink_url2
- deeplink_text3
- deeplink_url3

To enable free listing, edit bidding_setting.php, set $bidding_config["min_bid"] = 0;
To disable free listing, increase the minimum bid.

It was hard to get new submission before (with only paid listing, v1 mod).
After applying v2 mod (about few hours), I got tons new submission

If customer A bids $10 but later in the month is out bid for top spot, say $15 by customer B How does it work if A wants to bid again for top spot? what does he pay and how does it work? what happens about the initial money he's payed.

I like the idea of this mod but don't really like the bid amounts shown against the listing. Can anyone come up with any ideas about how to let a customer know how much he needs to bid for top spot, top ten etc without showing the bid amounts on all listings please?

If he get out bid, then he must pay again. The initial money is ignored.

Not sure if this mod has moved on yet, however, the principle should be the same as phpLB in that if someone is outbid, they should be able to add to their existing bid.

Unfortunately, if you enable this feature, then sponsored and premium listing will become disable to maintain pricing consistency.

I have an idea.

Links that are added to a directory that has bidding enabled, but have not paid after x days should be removed (deleted) from the suspended area.

This will help keep indexu somewhat cleaner and prevent dozens/hundreds of links from showing as suspended.

good idea, you should set it at over 30 days as some people have paid on my directory using a paypal "echeque" which takes 28 days to clear.
