Default Any interest in this anti-spam mod?

I have been busy getting my IndexU site ready to go live, but I have been lurking around the forums each day watching the chatter. I have seen a few posts relating to some users getting a lot of spam either from bots or from users continually submitting the same domains. I made a mod that allowed IndexU admins to ban submissions based on a domain, IP address, IP block, or email address. The mod is complete, but I have not finished the installation documentation. My question is, do you think this would this help reduce the number of spam submissions? Are these submissions continually listing the same domains? Are they coming from the same IP address or IP block?

My new site is focused around script mods, add-ons, and themes. I released a free mod already and was planning to sell this one as I will be opening up my own mod store, like a few other users here. I would be willing to allow 1 or 2 users to test it and give feedback.

Please tell me if you think this mod would help you. I am looking for people who get many, many spam submissions per day (don't have a particular number in mind), not someone who just opened their directory and get 1 or 2 per day. This will allow the mod to be fully tested and modification made if necessary.

For testing it and providing me with your feedback, you will be allowed to use the mod for free on any or all of you domains (unlimited use). Keep in mind, I will need to finish the installation docs before you test, probably a day or two from now.

I'd be happy to take a look at it, but I'll be honest and say I don't get a lot of spam type submissions.

I've only been spammed twice. In both instances, it was someone who had 30-40 domains with the same exact content on each one of them.

The GREAT part about IndexU is that spam isn't a huge issue But I definiately think that a MOD like yours would be great too You never know when something like that would come in VERY handy

One question... Does IndexU record the IP address that the link was submitted from??? Or do you need to consult server logs for that? I'm thinking that IP and domain would be the two most useful ways of banning. E-mail is just way to easy to get around.

Unfortunately the logs are very lacking. It's one thing I wish that Dody would improve upon and have requested it.
