    Default Checking linkbacks Mod

    I am finishing up the incoming hits hack and the shopping cart mod. I'm doing final testing for both and they should be ready next week. I may go out of town Sat and Sun and if so, they should be ready later in the week. The shopping cart mod has been difficult but should be nice. I will offer both as paid mods.

    I am getting my thoughts together for a mod to check link backs. Initially, the check will occur somewhere during the add process. Ultimately, it will check all linkbacks like the checkurl program.

    Any requests/comments are ceretainly welcome...

    An automated linkback checker would be an amazing addition to the software. Let me know when it's for sale lol

    How exactly does it work, does it just spider the index page of the site listed or follow pages on that site?

    spider? I don't think so! I don't have the brains for that!

    I doubt that I ever will make it spider the site.

    It will require the actual page that has the link to your INDEXU site. and will be part of the add process and stored in the idx_link table.

    will probably have a flag to let the add occur without finding it or to require it.

    I should be able to add this hack to my site shortly.

    I have done the preliminary testing for use during the link validation routine and it works fine.

    I will then start work on a version like the checkurl.php to be run from the admin center to check all linkbacks at one time. I've looked at it and it will require "extensive" effort but certainly looks "do-able" to me.

    "do-able" means I think I can do it.

    Hello,
    please tell us more - do you spider the websites of your partners to find the link back ?
    I think this is the best way to get more linkpop in Google and more effektive as counting some stupid link-ids of a toplist

    well, I am no spider expert!

    this is just a simple mod. It requires the addition of a field to the idx_links table called recip. The linkbackchecker function parses the recip page looking for your INDEXU site URL.

    As part of the "Add Link" process, the submitter would include the URL of the page on which he has placed the reciprocal link back to your site. Only this page is searched.

    The linkback checker goes to that specific page to look for the link. If it is actually on some other page, the linkbackchecker will not find it.

    Maybe later on I will do one that loops thru all the pages on the submitters site.

    esm, tha is exactly what I'm searching for !!!
    I build the "linkback" field for the URL a long time a gaon and as I told in another thread I plan to check it with the software Arelis.
    But your mod sounds much better and I'm waiting to see it, please post your results.

    Btw: Did you read my other posts about my hack-problems ?

    I can't answer at your site, because I can't login

    Did your mod only check the linkback by validation or is it possible o check all backlinks later to be sure, that the link still exists ?

    If yes, is it possible to use a special field for all links that shoud have a backlink ?
    If not you will get a lot of error messages, if you add links by yourself, by example affiliate links...

    Currently, it is done only at time of validation but I will work on one like the checkurl.php
