Default Cannot access Admin area

My password no longer allows me access to my Admin area. I've tried following the steps outlined in the user manual to retreive it and nothing is working. I even tried digging around the code to possibly locate it or some sort of loop hole to trick my way in but I've been unsuccessful. Short of reinstalling the whole thing again, what else can I try?

I really don't want to reinstall since my template is a custom one

do you have access to phpmyadmin? you can edit the password row in the users table with it.

Or create a new account and mark the user as admin.

Dody - Unless I did something wrong which is doubtful (the instructions are straight forward), it proved fruitless.

inspireme - I do have that but an not sure as to how and go about putting in that information. Could you possibly walk me through that process if it's not too much trouble? Maybe perhaps point me to a website on the process if you don't have the time to do so? Last time I fiddled around in phpmadmin I made a heck of a mess within another directory I run and ended up having to clean it all up.

Default Update

I must be working too hard or getting too old. I suspect both....

Dody - I believe your suggestion worked afterall. The error must lie on my part because I did as inspireme and digged futher within phpmyadmin and found the default password for admin. Thank you.

inspireme - My lack of patience paid off (this time anyway) and I dug further within phpmyadmin and located the admin password. Pretty nifty databse SQL is to be able to do that sort of thing, I had no idea. Thank you as well for the tip, very much appreciated!
