Max number of new and updated rows in 5.4

I believe the parameter $params['max_item'] in the file block.new_and_updated_lising.php is useless in 5.4.

I put "$params['max_item'] = '5';" in the 5.3 version and I saw 5 new links in the index page.
But in the 5.4 version, I put 5 too (instead of 10 by default) and nothing happens.

Could you please test that ?

I remember an old bug in 5.3 : the number of links in "browse.php" was not the same when the admin cookie was here or not. The admin saw 10 links per page and the simple visitor saw 5 links per page. But in this case (5.4) I saw no difference between the admin and a simple visitor.
The bug doesn't come from the cache file (I deleted it and nothing happened).

I've tested again, so far i have no problem at all. Here is my code

Try to set different number. And also check your cache setting, set to 0 to force update.

I'm having a similar issue. I've reset the parameter in block.new_and_updated_listing.php to 10 but I'm still seeing 5

EDIT:
Scrap that, now found where to change it - index.html - doh...
