Request for captcha to be added to the 'mailing list' block at the next update(not checked svn) - not a bug but bots seem to be hitting it quite hard with spoof email addresses.

I see no reason why bots would be submitting email addresses, there is nothing to gain for them really other than the possibility of getting a valid email address out of you when you send your mailing list. But they'd have to submit valid email addresses and you would have to send your mailing list from a valid email that's read by a human.

Adding captcha wouldn't hurt anything, so please dont think that I'm disagreeing with you.

Thanks for your reply.

I am not quite sure why but it seems to filling out the form using an invalid email address – I am kinda guessing may be the bot(if it is a bot) isn’t intended for the mailing list form.

At a guess(because I don’t really see the logic in it either) may be its trying to drop a link using an invalid email account – but as the form only allows an email address, that’s all that is being submitted.

Any how its submitting the form and the end result is a mail box full of bounced emails.

Not really a bug.
