Default Bug when you insert a + in the search box

A lot of users use the + in the search box. And sometimes
i get this error.

Warning: preg_replace() [function.preg-replace]: Compilation failed: nothing to repeat at offset 20 in /home/hoteldis/public_html/lib/category.class.php on line 608

Somebody knows how to resolve ?

Antony
Thank's for your help.

AND is implied in the search, so using + isn't necessary.

And we all need to face facts that most users (other than webmasters really) have no clue on how to do a boolean search.

Sure I agree that error shouldn't appear, but it will only affect a very small minority of your users.

Lightbulb How I solved this...

Bruceper is absolutely correct and the sad result is they also can get incomplete searches but using commas with some words.

I edited bgsearch.jpg with text to add an example of how to do a search showing spaces between the words. It literally says: Example (word1 word2 word3) use spaces between words and it tells them that "fewer words = bigger result and more words = smaller, more targeted result"

Hope this helps...

Or you can use the correct terms AND, OR, NOT, which long ago were simplified to characters. Yes it works, because that's how mysql works.

Try it out yourself.
