As for the templates, it should be compatible for the most part with the old script. However, we suggest that you should upgrade to the new version. Back up your database first and install the new idesk. By default, the installation would not delete nor modify your data but it doesn't hurt to backup your data first in case something wrong happens

About iDesk 1.6.4 since it's already released I suggest you put the language translation issues on NiceCoder Community Forums - Projects under the idesk project. It's a new tool to manage project issues on bugs, features and other suggestion or complaint.
