    Question Extreme Dmoz Extractor v1.1

I have just purchased Extreme Dmoz Extractor v1.1 and im having a few problems importing into indexu 5.0.1 (NEW RELEASE! again which i purchased yesterday.)

Its probably finger trouble or not pressing the right buttons, basicly I want to extract the following form the domz files which i have downloaded as catagories.

    top/Games/Video_Games

This extracts fine (not a problem), with about 330 odd so catagories. but when i import into indexu it will create 330 seperate catagories on the home page. which looks rather messy and takes about 3 days to scroll down the page.

What i want it to do is create a top level catagory Video Games, and then under there have the 330 sub catagories extracted from the dmoz file.

    please could you help

    regards

    Default ?

    hello,

import should work under 5.0.x ?

    Dody ?

I think now you must fix the bugs in dmoz tool or pay some people back.
My expirirwence is that dmoz tool won't work for 5.0.x and that (and that is really important !!!) won't completly not work, because dmoz data is xml in utf 8 and the software is not able to decode the characters. never understood the problem, because it is simple utf8_decode / _encode, but the software can't and so every category, every link title and every descriptuion which include a special letter is buggy...

This is not the first post about the problem...

    Regards
    Frank

    Thumbs down ???????

    Hello ?
Please, I'm a nice guy so please don't tell me such things.
I tested last weekend again and nothing is working.

If it is so easy please show me how to import these easy samples with some categories and only a few links:

    http://dmoz.org/World/Deutsch/Online...alit%c3%a4ten/

    http://dmoz.org/World/Deutsch/Zuhause/Kochen/

If it is so easy and well tested you it be possible to do it fast, yes ?

But be aware, as you can see there are special letters in category url and in jnearly each linktititle / description so data must be utf8 encoded and still in the right order.

If this really works today I will clean all my dmoz posts here in the same tim, but than please send me dmoz software update and importscript for indexu.

    Regards
    Frank

Strange... 3.1 works fine with imports but 5.1 does not import anything?

Berto, frank is talking about non-english characters which can not be imported into indexu. You'll have no problem with english characters.

    Thumbs down ???

    hey ?
You can't also import english sites, because import script is not updated (my tipp), BUUUUT EVERY DMOZ CATEGORY (ALSO ENGLISH !) AND LINK MAY INCLUDE SPECIAL CHARACTERS LIKE VERY SIMPLE éè"'<> AND SON AND YOUR TOOL ISN'T ABLE TO HANDLE THIS; BECAUSE DMOZ DATA IS UTF8 AND YOU IGNORE THIS SINCE YEARS !

FACT AND FAZIT IS THAT THE SCRIPT IS NOT WORKING CORRECT SINCE THE BEGINNING AND YOU KNOW AND STILL SELL THAT !!!

WHY DON'T YOU SIMPLE ADD SOME SIMPLE UTF8-DECODE / ENCODE TO THE CODE AND REWORK CATEGORY IMPORAT FOR CATEGORIES WITH SPECIAL LETTERS ??? (ALL WITHOUT ENGLISH - THE WHOLE WORLD !)

also inaceptable, its an old bug you can fix in minutes instead of playing with next software only to earn more money.
I really can't believe you lie other customers only to get these stupid dollars and still develop on more buggy scripts instead of fixing the existing.

    Default i give up

i give up with this software, I have asked for a refund. I'm only able to import 1 catagorys from dmoz in to the database, if i then try to import another catagory it messes up the whole database.

Ive been told to manipulat the spread sheet for the 2nd import, but this is a lot of messing about and i dont have time.

basicly it doesnt do what it says on the tin !

Question Thank goodness for your posts

I was about to buy IndexU for 3-5 multiple domains - and probably the DMOZ extractor, if it could be tested properly??

I like IndexU... but for the last day I've tried to import delimited files (originally DMOZ - using DMOZ Extractor - which works well) into IndexU. IndexU won't import them properly, if at all... why wouldn't you enable comma delimited to start with instead of tab, but anyways...

So, I figured I had the problem, no IndexU - I MUST HAVE BEEN DOING SOMETHING WRONG.

SO, just to make sure - HAS ANYONE BEEN ABLE TO IMORT 'TAB DELIMITED' DMOZ RECORDS INTO IndexU????
