    Default Extreme DMOZ Extractor

    Hi all,
Yesterday we purchased Extreme DMOZ Extractor, we extracted some part of links and category files of DOMZ.

When we import these files into our existing IndexU directory, at the end of the page it says "Done" but we can't see any category or link imported into db or visible on website.

    Can you please help?

Do we need to delete all entries into exiting database? Is there not a way we can still use our existing database and add more links on top of it??

Is there any sort of step by step guide for starters?

any help will be highly appreciated.

    many thanks

Remember that most servers have a 2MB limit on the size of files that can be uploaded. If you are hitting this limit the script will not give out an error for some reason but simply say "done"

You can edit the file to cut it down in size, or increase the size of files you are able to upload.

It would be easiest for when you start again to flush the idx_link table just so you can start at the beginning again. However you do not need to do this.

A few things you might want to do :

    1. Update your category paths
    2. Update your links
    3. How many links are you trying to import at a time? Depending on your circumstances ( server type, MySQL, etc. ), you might need to break down the file into smaller ones.

I am importing some 1000 links at one time, file size is 150 bytes & 174 bytes only,

Following is one example of output category in text file:

"1 114202 Top/Computers/Consultants/Business_Systems KSI Corporation http://www.ksi-corp.com Full-service management consulting firm providing a wide range of professional services including SAP R/3 software, BASIS consulting, LAN/WAN design."

Do i have to have "Top/Computers/Consultants/Business_Systems" category first?

"to flush the idx_link table" means will i loose my existing entries?

    many thanks

If you flush the table, yes you will lose everything that's there.

One thing you may want to try is to remove Top/ from each line.
