Cannot Import Extreme DMOZ Extractor Files

I am trying to set up a business directory and import some categories and links from DMOZ.org. I used the extractor and it worked fine and I was able to extract about 740 categories and 28,000 links (about 6.5 MB). I was able to successfully import the 740 categories and those are all set up and connected as they should on the site now.

The problem is when I try and import the 28,000 links using the DMOZ format option. It takes a few minutes and then comes back with "DONE" (no errors). When I update categories and look, there is nothing there and there is nothing in mysql either. Not sure what I am doing wrong. How do I get the 28,000 links into the database???

Break down the Links text file into multiple files... Put about 1000 links per text file

When I do large imports, I usually use no more than 3-5000 links at a time. Otherwise it may timeout on you.

Newer versions of cpanel have a resume feature for uploading large sql files, however I have not tried this.

Another thing that works is using a third party program to import the list such as MySQL-Front. However you need permissions to be able to connect to the database remotely and if you're on a shared server you may not be able to get it. You can always email the server admin and ask for short term access from a specific IP address.
