    Default V7 Suggestions

Okay, maybe im being a bit forward, but as people work on version 6 they will notice things that are still missing. Lets get a bit of a list going seeing as we are now paying for yearly updates this is a perfect time to show us its worth paying for.

    > ability to search/edit/delete reviews.

    > an "admin mode" where you can view the public area of the website, it would create edit links that went directly into the listings edit page when clicked, or if you were in a category page directly to the category. Even better you could edit directly on the public side and the changes were submitted using AJAX.

    > a "news" custom field that is special, editing of the news custom field would bypass the pending queue and update ont he site immediately, with basic checks from the spam list. Allows for listing owners to write quick updates.

    > Visitor image uploads, a visitor to a listing would be able to upload images, they go into an image pending line, and are approved the same as links. Useful for many niche sites.

    > Improvement on page caching so you can have an "onchange" option. If you use the page size in bytes as part of the cache file name you can always see if the file was changed since the last cache was made, it would be highly unlikely that an update caused the page to be exactly the same size. Although not perfect it would be better because when someone sponsors you it would mean all the categories and detail pages for the sponsor got immediatly updated, also less work for the server.

    What else...

    Hi,

    Nice list inspireme.

In addition, I think that V7 should start integrating with other very popular scripts such as Wordpress and VBulletin. By selling these as separate modules, NiceCoder can enhance their revenue stream by leveraging the current huge user bases associated with these forum and blogging scripts. I am sure that there are tens of thousands of bloggers who would love to have directory software integration. Single login would be best, but I think even some simple integration would do for now. Being able to put the latest Wordpress blog on the directory would be really nice for a start.

    - Taking the MOD mpdaddy made for upgrading the way Link Validation works would be good to integrate into IndexU as well. For busy directories, this is really a must! Its way to time consuming the way the default Link Validation currently works

    - Integrate the ability to turn IndexU "On or Off". When do upgrades or performing maintenance on your site, sometimes you dont want visitors to see what your breaking to make it better When in "Off" mode, header / footer / right and left sidebars are still visible, but center - main content is missing and a custom made text is able to be inputted by the admin to let users know your performin updates and when the site will be "On" again

Xcart has something like this already. Altough I hate xcart that is it's only redeeming feature.

why not show the joomla / mambo world how good IndexU directory software really is ???

I have used SOBI OpenSEF directory plugin for joomla and it doesnt even come close to IndexU. close is an understatment BTW

You could sell indexu as a plugin for joomla, yes a lot of work but think about it?? Really think about it?? the ammout of users/customers your could tap into.
    This would self market itself

There are many more bonuses , Ie a cms for indexu, and all the plugins you could add for joomla.

    why not

No clue, I just know the plan is to look into integration to "other" scripts. I would assume vbulletin will be one of them, but even that's a guess.

    another one

    > move settings.php onto the admin section allowing people to edit the display settings from a form instead of php file.

This would be good as a MOD / Plugin rather than being built into the core code of version 7

Just been approving links, wouldnt it be nice if we could have a box for a "personal message" so we could type the reason for disapproval... or maybe just have a generic message box so people could type a message on approval as well...
