    Default Something went boom!

So here I am sitting here typing away, and the entire house shakes like it's been hit. No sound though, just a shake.

So I go outside and check it out and there's nothing. But I know this isn't "nothing". Of course I check the news, nothing there yet.

About 30 minutes later there's an update on the news, and it appears there was an explosion at a shopping mall about 1/2 km away. The news isn't clear yet, but it appears to have been a propane tank explosion from people who were fixing the roof of the mall. Nothing else has really been reported yet (injuries, damage etc)

Interesting news, but the most interesting part? I planned to go to that mall today to send some mail.

Still not much news about it, apparently some company was fixing the roof of part of the building and they had a propane tank on the ground.

Apparently the tar pot caught fire which burnt the propane line(s). Fire did what it does best and followed it's fuel source which made the tank go boom.

I forgot to mention earlier, when I went outside I could hear sirens from almost every direction. Approx one block away from the explosion there is a fire department. I'm sure they got there quick.

Right behind that building (and a bit to the right) is a school however. There must have been a bunch of scared kids running around at that time. Makes me wonder, it happened around 10:30 which is darn close to recess time. No reports of any injuries or about kids in the playground.

And the latest news is that there is very little damage to the building. Mostly smoke damage apparently. Although I would not have wanted to be around when that tank blew up.

Here's a pic of the smoke from the news.

    Hope nobody was hurt..

The propane's hoses catching fire should not cause a bottle to explode, there should always be a 'back fire" protection on the hose fitting and bottle / tank..

Someone has got some explaining to do..
