Default So what do you think?

I'm here to find everyone's opinions of all the activity in the last week or so.

In case you missed anything, here's the list

    1) New IndexU manual
    2) iDesk 1.6.2
    3) iDesk manual with corrected english
    4) NiceTalk 1.0 & manual
    5) New website
    6) A blog (opened today, one day past it's scheduled open date)
    7) indexutemplates.com is nearly done (waiting for client area fix)
    8) All free templates re-released to work properly with translations (kosmos did not need to be redone)
    9) The website had it's english corrected as well
    10) And while it hasn't been released yet, IndexU Deluxe v1.1 is scheduled for release at the end of this week.
    11) I forgot to add that a new version of the DMOZ Extractor was started
    12) A program to work with backups for cPanel was started and a beta of the interface has been seen

Of course a number of these things have been in the works for a while, but they were all released within the last week. I know I've asked users to bear with us and just wait, so was it worth the wait? Was this what you expected? Did you expect more? Less? Did you expect Nicecoder to do nothing and are totally surprised at all the changes?

Let me know what you think.

I will also be posting on the blog with Nicecoder's goals for the month, so I will be adding Septembers goals within a few days. I'll also talk about beta projects and things we're playing with so you know what is going on behind the scenes.

My suggestion would be to create three separate discussion areas.
    1. Work Completed
    2. Work Nearing Completion
    3. Work Started
Since we can only see work that has been completed, mixing the three areas just confuses the issue for us. It is nice to know that some work is nearing completion and it is nice to know what you have started work on. But separate the different items.

Since about 99% of the users and posts are about INDEXU, you may want to address other products in a different manner or at least in separate section from INDEXU.

The question has never been about whether or not there would be improvements/additions to Nicecoder. That has occured since I became active in April 2003. The question is did folks get their money's worth by paying the additional license fees.

While there is no poll to vote on, I think it is too early at this point to say if folks have really benefitted from the paying the license fee. Yes, I know it has been 4 months but that really says Nicecoder has a lot of catching up to do.

I guess there is good news. v6.1 will come out maybe two weeks earlier that v5.1.

And remember that the license fee is for INDEXU, not the other products, so please don't tell us that part of the license fee is used to fund the other products.

You are still only focused on IndexU, I need to deal with the entire business which includes all of the products that Nicecoder makes so I need to mention everything that I can.

I never said the license fee was used for other products, it will be used to keep development of IndexU ongoing.

From this point forward there will be much more regular IndexU releases approximately six to eight weeks apart. I really want to push for monthly releases, so users can have bug fix versions a lot faster than before and we'll work on that, but no promises yet.

Yes there will be different sections of the blog, Dody made that post last night right at the end of the day and was giving out logins to the other programmers. I do not have my login yet.

My vision on the blog is different, I think we will have categories for each product plus one for alpha or beta products. This way users can see a chronological progression of each product and what has been done with it recently.

Finally, my opinion is that I don't really want the blog to be a discussion but I do realize that it may happen. The intent of the blog was to make an area for the programmers to give public reports about what work is being done so users can track progress.

I think it is pretty obvious that the (main) people behind the scenes have good intentions for IndexU and the other NiceCoder products, the fact that they took you on Bruce shows that they are looking forward.
You (Bruce) are doing a wonderful job, but saying that, although I am new to indexU, it's always been clear that you always did run IndexU single handedly, with of course a bit of help from about 4 others..
I use loads of scripts, but the help provided on the IndexU forum mainly by Bruce was, and is second to none, all my issues were solved within an hour.
I still think that the way existing customers were treated with the release of V6.0 (or V1.0 as you re-named it ) was terrible, and know for a fact that they lost good existing customers with that decission.. I myself purchased 4 PhpLd.. and am very happy with them.. But, thats water under the bridge...

I think you are doing an excellent job with improving things Bruce, and I hope that you will get things working as you want them to.. and who knows, maybe one day some ex-customers will return, and there will once again be more than 4 people posting on the forum..

My point was the you cannot seek justification of the INDEXU license fee based on work done in non-INDEXU areas. It's great that Nicecoder has other products. But when you ask "was it worth the wait?" for INDEXU improvements, don't seek approval by mentioning non-INDEXU products, etc. The only reason that 99%, or better, of the folks that are here, is because they purchased INDEXU, and they have to pay the the license fee to continue with the upgrades. And as justification of for the license fee, you promised better everything for INDEXU. Don't mix apples and oranges and bananas.

Your initial post was a jumbled hodgepodge of products and work. I suggested you sort things so that those interested in INDEXU don't have to read about iDesk or NiceTalk. And those interested in NiceTalk don't have to read about INDEXU or iDesk.

And I didn't say that the INDEXU license fees were used for other products.

That is great, any improvement is good as long as it happens and it happens fast.
By the way congratulations and we are very glad to see you got promotion and more power.
    Thanks Bruce

2.1? Do you mean 1.1? It should be out this week but I haven't gotten a progress report yet. It was delayed due to a new addition not functioning properly.

Thumbs up Good to see a "Can Do" attitude!

Things are looking up for indexu and with Bruce's "Can Do" attitude I am sure this will be of huge benefit to all the indexu users.

I don't remember if it was in a post or a PM, but I told someone else and now I can let everyone else know that 1.1 will be released on Sunday night/monday morning. Dody ran out of time last night and it was 4AM for me and I needed to sleep.
