You always see the same names on the forum, but I have no idea whos behind the name, or even what your real name is... (except for perhaps Bruce ) !

So i thought i would ask what you all do full time, I presume nobody here is full time directory owner? (if so then tell us how!)

Okay so here is me:

after serving in the US Air Force (Supply Officer), I worked as a CPA. My old boss in the Air Force lured me away to the corporate world where I got my first PC in 1982 (Anybody remember what Dell computers were called when they first came out...???). Pretty soon I was spending all my time on computers.

Now-a-days, another friend and I provide remote DBA (Data Base Administration) support for a big retailer in the North East United States for which they pay us an obscene amount of money. And they are adding another database to our workload next month for which they will pay us another obscene amount of money.

So my semi-retired status of the last few years is dwindling and that will cut into my personal computer time. I spend time in Georgia, Tennessee, Florida, Arizona and California.

I created my first links directory in late 1999 using gossamer-threads' Links 2 directory. It is written in PERL and I hate PERL. I still have it but I'm slowly converting it to my links_coder program (my own links directory program). Then I will sell it.

I've been working on an Invoicing program off and on for the past year. One day I will finish it.

I started life as an Electronics Technician for 10+ but that industry was quickly dying due to disposable equipment (No point in fixing a DVD player when you can buy a new one for $29 at wal-mart). So I left that industry and got a job or two and started a website for fun.

In 2001 my youngest son came to live with me. He's got some issues and working plus dealing with his issues was like having two full time jobs.

In 2002 I was laid off and collecting unemployment and thought to myself "Could I make money with this website and stay home with my son?". I decided to give it a try the day I got my notice that this was my last unemployment check. In my first month I made just over $700 thanks to a good US/Canadian exchange rate at the time.

Since 2002 I have been working at home full time as a webdesigner (mostly for myself, customers too). My first site was sold in 2004 and made enough to pay off all my debts and left me enough to place a nice downpayment on a house.

i learned lots... Hmm, you wrote more than me so im going to add that i live in the UK (actually in Wales), but on may 9th this year im heading off to Canada on a working holiday visa, where im living the high-life working in quality jobs like tim hortons, walmart or if im lucky some waiting on tables.

Im lucky i have a reasonable income from my websites so i will hopefully have time to enjoy being in another country, im currently redesigning 2 of my sites every spare moment i have to get them so im happy with them before i leave.

I started my first website back in 1995, in the adult industry. I made some quick cash and then made a quick exit. I then opened up a retail computer hardware site in 2001, and was driven out of business when my financial backer/partner backed out on me. I spent a few years slumming around the net trying to find something interesting, when I happened upon IndexU.
