i have mods i could do... but $50? i have a unlimited use license, i dont like any of the templates, so it really isnt much of an incentive - especially if your then going to take it and use it in the next release?! I suppose a small mod would be worth doing.

I want to make a mod that will save all sent enquiries from the send mail button on detail pages into a database. Link owners can then go online and view the emails, and see historically how many enquiries (emails and clicks) the site has sent them. - more than $50 worth ?

John had said a larger amount previously ($100), but with Dody and John working on something right now they haven't been able to confirm the prize(s).

It's doubtful that mods would be used, but I put that in there as a just in case kind of deal.

We had also spoken of another contest or two. One idea was to have a contest for free mods, and one for paid mods. So far this is only for the free mods as again, I am unable to confrm with them and will try my hardest to get that done ASAP.

This bit is pure conjecture, but let me ask you a question. If you wrote a mod, and wanted to offer it to users but wanted cash for it (from Nicecoder) would you rather have it that way?

I'm going to move this thread so you can actually reply to it without being automoderated (all replies to threads in annoucements are automoderated).

its not that i dont think its a good idea, I think its a good way for developers to get paid for work and users to get great mods, I guess $50 it would be worth me doing some simple blocks people may like. until recently i made mods and always gave them away for free anyway, I started charging because so many people asks questions or ask for changes which take time and i was unwilling to do it for nothing.

I have an idea for a mod i will make for this. Not because i want the $50, but i want to support any efforts made to make this forum better and indexU to be better, and of course, i think the mod willw ork well on my sites so i havent lost anything

The prize will be $100 (paypal), 10 indexu licenses, and 1 extreme dmoz extractor.
I wonder if zubby (indexudirectory.com) join the contest. He is very active developing mods right now. FYI, i found around 35 beautiful mods in his blog

i entered one. Maybe a license for the 5 most useful mod... and just 5 for the winner? - everybody gets something then rather than winner takes all.

the rules have been updated. The prize is now $100 and a link on the nicecoder site (no license) and the smallprint about possibly using the mod in a release has been removed.

Now I think we should discuss the possibility of a second contest, or about opening this contest up to both paid and free mods/themes etc.

What does everyone think about that? Toss out any idea(s) that you may have for making mods/addons/themes so we can get more community involvement.

    My opinions:

1 - Have a contents for free Mods but for paid Mods too. People like Inspireme work hard on their Mods and they are of high quality too.

2 - Themes would be a GREAT addition. The more themes, the better I feel that themes are in the same class as Mods. There can never be enough of them

3 - Maybe we can do a niche addon content... I know that many are looking for new / additional payment gateways. This would be good for mods / addons that dont get much traction but are needed.

If I think of more, I'll post them
